In India the best tourism place for trekkers is Western Ghats. The
Great Western Ghats Trek Project, which had identified nearly 200 Ghats trials
from Chamarajanagar district to Belgaum district. This project is to help
adventure tourists to give proper guide and to prevent accidents. This project
also gives basic information’s like distance and topography will be available
and also details about wild life, water resources nearby hospitals, amenities.
This information will help those who would not have ventured out to
undesignated routes.
Western Ghats offers a good and adventure treks in Hassan,
Chickmagalur, Kodagu, Shimoga, Dakshina Kannada, Belgaum and Uttara Kannada
districts.
Tourists or trekkers should have genuine maps or information, but
youngsters should not depend on information given by internet or word of mouth.
The most important thing before you going to trekking is that
going trekking with unfamiliar routes, no matter how exciting you are. “Adventure
activities should be done with proper planning and safety precautions”. So
trekkers should consult professional trekkers to ensure safe expeditions. And
also permission from Forest Department or any agencies promoting adventure
activities is very important in case of emergency.
Trekking without basic needs like food, first aid kit, water, compass,
rope, local guide and map. This tool is very essential and helpful for
trekkers. Trekkers are prohibited for certain forests which are not open for
trekking. Every step should be treated carefully, irrespective of the area and

Rules before you trekking:
Find an adventure / basic mountaineering courses/ rock climbing/
instructor / mountaineering skills for help and find out basic information
given by them
Collect information about the route, danger zones, water resource
availability, camping sites and other information’s for safe trekking.
And also maintain the checklist. Your bag should contain
additional food, first aid kit, gloves, rain coat, rope, insect repellent and
torch.
Choice of footwear is crucial. Select those with rubber soles and
not synthetic.
If you’re untrained or inexperienced, try to be a part of
professional adventure groups for treks/ rafting/ rock climbing.
And time management is also important. Try to reach campsite by
4pm. It is better to camp when sunlight is available.
Consuming alcohol and smoking is prohibited and dangerous too.
